The FIS inspection has decided: “The Cross-Country World Cup at Rogla is on!”
In spite of capricious nature, which provided only measly conditions for technical snowing, the representative of the International Ski Federation has decided that the FIS Cross-Country World Cup will take place as planned, according to the schedule.
The FIS inspection, which took place at Rogla yesterday late afternoon, was accompanied by the joyous roaring of snow cannons. The deciding factor was that in the last few days, as soon as weather conditions at Rogla were right, the production of technical snow began at the so-called Mašin Žaga deposit site. Thus, 50,000 m3 of snow was produced.
With a great desire to hold the competition at Rogla, the International Ski Federation accepted and confirmed a slightly modified course, which is now more alpine ski slope-oriented and even runs on these slopes to some extent.
The newly set course enables technical snowing, since the area it covers is not part of the Natura 2000 protection zone. A part of the track shall also require bringing in technical snow from the previously mentioned Mašin Žaga deposit site.
Since many hands make work easier, the organisers will receive help from the local farmers with tractors and a team of united Slovenian cross-country skiers and enthusiasts.
